The Book Fair in a Swedish-American Literary Exchange

Last week, our programme director, Oskar Ekström, visited Minneapolis to participate in a literary exchange between Sweden and the USA. Around twenty individuals from both countries’ literary scenes took part in a group that shared experiences and ideas for future collaborations.

An intensive program was put together by the Swedish Institute and the American Swedish Institute, including workshops, study visits to the Open Book literary center, The Loft Literary Center, as well as several publishing houses and bookstores. The main goal was to spark interest in the Swedish literary industry in the USA and establish connections for potential joint projects.

“It was a truly rewarding exchange. Minneapolis naturally has a strong interest in Swedish culture due to its historical Swedish heritage, and its literary scene is incredibly vibrant. We now have several interesting avenues to explore together,” says Oskar Ekström.
