Last Friday, it was announced that Frida Edman has decided to take on new challenges. In August, she will assume the role of CEO at Göteborgs Stadsteater AB (Gothenburg City Theatre), and will therefore be leaving her position as Director of Gothenburg Book Fair.

“We thank Frida for her great dedication to us and to the Book Fair, and we wish her all the best in the future. The organisation rests on a solid foundation, with an experienced and competent team in place at the Book Fair, as well as within the wider group. Together with Frida, and within the organisation, we will now begin to plan the handover and recruitment process, both in the short and long term,” says Anna Wikströmer Sundgren, Director of HR and Communications at The Swedish Exhibition and Congress Centre, which organises the Book Fair.

Preparations for this year’s Book Fair, taking place on 25–28 September, are in full swing.

“We are in the midst of the intensive work of shaping the 41st Gothenburg Book Fair – an event that, through literature, highlights pressing contemporary issues and brings forward urgent perspectives. This year’s themes, Drama and Love and Lust, contribute to a broad and inspiring programme that we look forward to presenting this spring. With an experienced and stable team, well-established routines, and close collaboration with other parts of the company, we continue our work as usual. We thank Frida for her contributions over the years and wish her the very best in her new role,” says Maria Rogstad, Head of Communications at Gothenburg Book Fair.

Frida Edman comments:

“Thank you so much for all the encouragement and kind words over the past few days. I feel overwhelmed but excited about my new role. The Book Fair has found a solid footing after several years of intensive work. It’s a team full of dedication, and we’ve established many valuable collaborations – both nationally and internationally – for the years ahead. Right now, my full focus remains on this year’s Book Fair.”
