Hamnet author to visit Gothenburg Book Fair

The award-winning British author Maggie O’Farrell will appear at the Gothenburg Book Fair this September. This year, she is especially in the spotlight with both the film adaptation of Hamnet and the release of her new novel Land.

The film adaptation of O’Farrell’s novel Hamnet premiered in Swedish cinemas on 27 February. The cast includes stars such as Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley. The film was nominated for eight Academy Awards, including Best Adapted Screenplay (O’Farrell), and won Best Actress in a Leading Role (Jessie Buckley).

Originally published in 2020, Hamnet received several major literary awards, including the Women’s Prize for Fiction. The novel is now being reissued in print by Historiska Media and will also be released as an audiobook for the first time.
On 11 June, O’Farrell’s new novel Land will be published in Sweden. Internationally, the book has been highlighted as one of the year’s major literary events. Both Land and Hamnet have been translated into Swedish by Malin Bylund Westfelt.

Maggie O’Farrell is one of the most widely read and acclaimed novelists of our time. She has sold over four million books in the UK and more than seven million copies worldwide, and her work has been translated into 42 languages.
