Boys, Young Men and Violence

Slovenian writer Goran Vojnović’s Đorđić se vrača (Dordic Returns_)_ sees protagonist Marko Đorđić return to Ljubljana ten years after he was sent away to Bosnia only for him to realise that he is not welcome anywhere. Condemned to fall through the cracks for eternity, he has been transformed into an emotionally disturbed young man whose inner world is a mirror image of that around him. In Norwegian author Oliver Lovrenski’s Back in the Day, we follow Ivor and his friends as they fall ever deeper into a world of addiction, violence and crime.
