Baek Heena’s unique picture books testify a love for time-consuming craftsmanship. Handmade sculptures and environments are staged and illuminated before being photographed. In addition, her singular and imaginative stories open the door to new and fantastic worlds. Baek Heena is one of South Korea’s foremost picture book makers. In 2020, she was named the winner of the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award and her book Strange Mother has just been published in Swedish translation. She will be talking to journalist Yukiko Duke about her art and writing.
