Sofi Oksanen

Description

Misogyny in Russia
The curtailment of women’s rights has long been a deliberate strategy deployed in Putin’s Russia. In Same River Twice – Putin’s War Against Women, the Finnish author Sofi Oksanen provides an eye-opening account of how misogyny has become an increasingly effective weapon in the service of dictators and imperialists who use tools such as disinformation and propaganda, sexual violence in war and authoritarian legislation to get their way. Oksanen, whose international breakthrough came with her novel Purge (published in English and Swedish translations in 2010), will be in conversation with Dagens Nyheter Culture Editor Björn Wiman.
