The plucky child in focus

What happens when children have to save themselves? In the fantasy novels Vågornas barn [The Children of the Waves] and Silverborn, as well as the Lightborn series, we encounter children growing up in conditions of neglect, oppression, or without the presence of protective grown-ups, but who all have a supernatural power – and a responsibility that is greater than their fear. They’re forced to take responsibility, make crucial decisions, and change their lives. This panel brings together authors Malin Klingenberg, Jessica Townsend, and double act Måns Gahrton and Johan Unenge to discuss magical stories as a powerful means to explore fear, grief, courage, and responsibility.
