Literary giants of Ukraine: Shevchenko and Ukrainka

How did two poets shape a nation’s self-image? Taras Shevchenko and Lesya Ukrainka are two fundamental pillars of Ukrainian identity. By defying Tsarist oppression and giving a voice to the people’s longing for freedom, they laid the foundations for a cultural resistance movement. Their works reveal a Ukrainian culture whose very existence Putin’s Russia denies.
